Dec 7: Move Elections From Our Sabbath Day To Tuesdays In November – SDA ‘Begs’ EC

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has petitioned the Electoral Commission to reschedule this year’s December 7 elections and all national elections from December 7 since it falls on their Sabbath Day.

The church is pleading for elections to be held on the first or second Tuesday to avoid disrupting their holy day and also to promote inclusive democracy.

According to the church, the conventional date for national elections which is December 7 falls on Saturday and this is in conflict with their service to God, hence calling on the EC to heed their call.

“In anticipation of changing the date for general elections from December 7 to the first (1st) or second (2nd) Tuesday of November, the Leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church met with the Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday, June 7.

“The Church proposed to the EC a change from the December 7 date to the 1st or 2nd Tuesday of November in a general elections’ year”, the SDA appeals.
