Driver of Anlo Traditional Council Arrested For Smuggling Cocoa
A driver driving a Toyota Hiace Van belonging to the Anlo Traditional Council has been arrested by the Police for allegedly smuggling cocoa beans.
Abraham Senyaglo, the driver, was arrested on Saturday night with 26 bags of smuggled cocoa beans on the Adomi-Atimpoku stretch.
He claimed he was running errand for the Chiefs of Anlo State who had sent him to the Manhyia Palace to present items to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The bags were parked in fertilizer sacks.
The suspect was reportedly apprehended after failing to stop upon a signal by Police around the Adomi Bridge in the Eastern Region.
He confessed that he decided to take the cocoa beans after being convinced by a friend that the beans had been legally acquired.
The suspect and the confiscated goods are currently in the custody of the Sogakope Police.
