‘Fake Gold, Cash’ Bust: ‘If The Money Is Fake, Why Can’t The Boxes Be Fake?’ – Kwesi Pratt Queries National Security
Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has raised eyebrows at the latest National Security’s discovery of counterfeit money contained in boxes allegedly belonging to the Bank of Ghana.
The cash boxes were discovered at Sarpeiman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, according to the National Security.
Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, confirmed that the money boxes recovered from the scene were authentic Bank of Ghana property.
“Authorities have verified that these boxes are genuine”, he disclosed.
However, the money is said to be counterfeit.
Kwesi Pratt, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, found it difficult to wrap his head around this matter.
He wondered how Bank of Ghana cash boxes could end up in the hands of a criminal network.
To him, the incident begs a barrage of questions.
He questioned the authenticity of the Bank of Ghana property, asking “those boxes with the inscription ‘Bank of Ghana’, are they genuine because it is possible to make fake Bank of Ghana boxes?“
“If the money is fake, why can’t the boxes be fake too?”, he further queried.
Nonetheless, Mr. Pratt called for thorough investigations into this criminal operation.
