FIFA Rankings: Ghana Drops From 61st To 67th Following AFCON Debacle

Ghana has dropped in latest FIFA rankings.

The Ghana national team, Black Stars, failed to progress in the just-ended African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Ivory Coast due their poor performances in the tournament.

The team was kicked out at the group stage after losing their first game to Cape Verde, failing to secure a win in their match against Egypt and also suffering a humiliating draw with Mozambique in their last game.

The four-time African champions’ current position in the FIFA rankings following the AFCON 2023 is 67th worldwide, a drop from their 61st position in December 2023 and 14th in Africa.

The AFCON winners, Cote D’Ivoire, moved up in the global rankings by attaining 10th position from 39th and Nigeria which came second in the tournament are now at 14th from 28th position.

Angola made significant strides by moving from 93rd position to 24th.
