Ghana is out of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The team, Black Stars, ended their game with Mozambique this night in a 2:2 draw with the Mozambicans securing their two goals at the last minutes of the game.

Before and during the match, Ghanaian fans had to rely on other results to avoid a group-stage exit in AFCON for the second time in a row.

Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Ghana after 15 minutes in a penalty kick, putting the team in the lead after Joseph Paintsil was brought down by a Mozambican player.

The team secured a second penalty which was also beautifully executed by Jordan Ayew and this sent the supporters into a frenzied ecstasy.

But the euphoria was short-lived as Mozambique was awarded a penalty after the ball hit Dede Ayew’s hand after the 90th minute and was converted to make it 2-1.

An embarrassing mistake from Ghana’s goalkeeper, Richard Ofori who gave the Mozambicans an avoidable corner kick, gave them their equalization resulting in a 2:2 draw to end the match.

With Cape Verde and Egypt securing first and second positions with 7 and 3 points respectively in the Group B, Ghana is now the latest team to exit the tournament after the host nation, Ivory Coast, who are facing an exit from the tournament for losing by 4:0 to Equatorial Guinea.
