‘Ghana Is A Crime Scene’ – Mahama Says
“Ghana is a crime scene”, President John Dramani Mahama has stated.
The President of the Republic made this known in a meeting with labour unions seeking increment in their wages and salaries.
President John Mahama has agreed to increase the wages by 10% , although the unions sought for a higher percentage.
He asked the unions to be considerate with his administration saying “one thing that is a cardinal principle for us is to tell the truth at all times, we all knew the economy was in crisis but some of the things I am discovering myself, I mean it’s being a criminal handling of our economy”.
“Ghana is a crime scene actually because how a government can have been so reckless? I cannot understand but we are faced with the reality and our options are very few”, he said of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government.
Further pleading with the unions to bear with him and his government, he emphasized; “We can behave like the ostrich and hide our heads in the sand and let the economy crash but then what effect will it have on Ghana households and everybody. And so, I have told him; I said cut expenditure as much as you like. Even we, ourselves, in office of government machinery, cut as much of our budget as you like because we all must make those sacrifices”
