Ghana Secures A Safe Lead To 2026 World Cup

Ghana is now on a safe side to the 2026 World Cup in the United States of America.

The World Cup will be held in three locations; the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars’ 4-3 win over the Central African Republic yesterday in the World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, places the team on top of the league table with 9 solid points and through to the World Cup.

Jordan Ayew gave the Black Stars the lead after scoring a hat-trick, making him the first Ghanaian player to do so after 2017.

He put Ghana ahead with an early penalty but the Black Stars trailed 2-1 at the break after the visitors took advantage of defensive frailties.

The Stars fought back and played with fortitude to close the day with a resounding victory that sent the charged spectators into a frenzy cheering them up in joy.

“We would like to thank the Government, President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice H.E Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, our sponsors/partners and the National Sports Authority for their continuous support.”

“We also want to recognise the incredible support of the Kumasi fans, the students, and people from other parts of the country who thronged the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to support the Black Stars”,  the GFA wrote on its website.

Ghana however will have to cement their place in the FIFA World Cup in their matches against Chad and Madagascar in March 2025.
