Ghanaians Ridicule Mahama Over Decision To Cut Sod For Ongoing Hajj Village
Former President John Dramani Mahama has come under intense criticisms over his decision to cut sod for construction of a new Hajj Village.
This Hajj Village project reportedly began last year under the Akufo-Addo regime.
The Mahama Government however is said to have decided to somehow reconstruct the same ongoing project.
This move was reportedly showcased on a poster shared by a new Hajj task force appointed by President Mahama.
Tackling this matter, some Ghanaians have expressed their resentments over what they say it’s dishonesty on the part of President Mahama as he fails to acknowledge the main originator of the project which is the New Patriotic Party under the leadership of the former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Hamdan Abubakar, a socio-economic commentator, shared pictures of the ongoing Hajj Village located opposite Action Chapel which, upon completion, will comprise offices, a clinic and a mosque.
She criticized the President saying “this is the site for the new Hajj Village project. An initiative of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government, which the Mahama government wants to steal”.
Also, the immediate past Deputy Transport Minister, Alhassan Tampuli has taken to his socials questioning Mahama’s rationale to cut sod for an already existing project.
“Did I hear President John Mahama is going to cut sod for a new Hajj Village in Accra tomorrow (Friday)?”, he queried.
Alhassan Tampuli stressed “this project has been going on since last year and it is the initiative of the former Minister for Transport, Hon. Kweku Asiamah, with Ghana Airport Company Limited and the Hajj Board as the implementing bodies”.
