Going To Court Better Than Your People Committing Violent Acts – Nana Akomea Backs NDC’s Court Action

Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea, the Deputy Campaign Chairman of the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s team cum Chief Executive of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC), has backed the National Democratic Congress’ legal pursuit regarding some parliamentary seats.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has served notice to seek legal redress as they claim foul play in some constituencies where their political opponents of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the seats.

To them, those seats smack of irregularities and rigging, hence they challenge the results.

Also, in connection with the NDC’s victory in the December 7 general elections and their dissent to some seats declared in favor of the opponents in the NPP, some fanatics of the party have since Sunday, December 8, resorted to violence as buildings which serve as collation centers have been razed down, storage facilities for relief and food items have been looted and billboards belonging to the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also destroyed.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s statue erected in the Western Region is also damaged by some persons believed to be NDC devotees.

Commenting on the post-election tension in the country during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Nana Akomea vehemently condemned the violent acts.

He was alarmed by the inappropriate behavior of the NDC supporters, wondering how the winning party’s people would engage in acts that mar the image of Ghana despite his candidate conceding defeat earlier before the Electoral Commission declared the final results which is said to be unprecedented under the 4th Republic.

To him, the leadership of the NDC wants resort to the court is the right step, not the destruction of properties and harm to humans.

“It is better than these ongoing violent acts whereby electoral officers are being threatened and school buildings and Police stations being burned”, the STC boss told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Nana Akomea hoped the vandalism of properties including all other violent acts will end.
