‘Gold for Oil’ Was Successful And Transparent – Fmr. BOST MD Backs Policy And Refutes False Claims

Former Managing Director of Bulk Energy Storage & Transportation Limited Company (BOST), Dr. Edwin Alfred Nii Obodai Provencal has set the records straight on the success and transparency of the “Gold for Oil” programme initiated by the previous NPP government.

In a statement, the former BOST MD responded to what he called a “campaign to bastardize” the policy, hence showing data to highlight its positive impact.

The “Gold For Oil” programme was introduced to stabilize the rising cost of fuel in the midst of Ghana’s forex challenge two years ago and many have attributed the stability of oil prices against the weekly rising cost previously to the success of this policy.

However, there are some critics of the policy, whose analysis Dr. Provencal describes as inaccurate, thereby attracting a rejoinder from him.

His rejoinder extensively addressed the impact of the policy and how transparent it has been.
