Govt’s Revocation Of Appointments And Recruitments Is Just A Ploy To Please NDC Foot Soldiers – Fmr. Information Minister Says
Former Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar has slammed the Mahama administration over the revocation of some appointments and recruitments.
The government has indicated all public servants’ appointments and security agencies’ recruitments made after December 7th last year are to be cancelled.
However, there are reports that some of the appointments and recruitments made in September, 2024 have also been affected.
Fatimatu Abubakar, joining Peace FM’s Monday “Kokrokoo” morning show, rebuked the government for taking this decision against the citizens.
She refuted the claims that the previous Akufo-Addo government did the recruitments and appointments after the elections with intent to sabotage the incumbent government.
To set the record straight, she cited Exim Bank which she noted had begun its recruitment in March last year.
“The mandate of President Akufo-Addo ended on 7th January, 2025 but the Ministry of Finance says, after 7th December, 2024, not a single financial clearance was given to any public institution to recruit. So, this argument that they didn’t have clearance; it was not covered under the previous budget [it] is all completely flawed”, she disclosed.
Further sharing her concerns particularly over the nurses who have already been posted to various places, some to the hinterlands and have assimilated into the environment as they have to rent an apartment there but now have to go back home, Fatimatu Abubakar was of a strong conviction that the revocation is to please the grassroots of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I get the impression that the government is trying to please the rank and file of their party, their foot soldiers…”, she said and cautioned the Mahama administration to desist from such act.
