Guinness World Records Sing-a-Thon: Afua Asantewaa DISQUALIFIED!

Ghanaian sing-a-thon record challenger, Afua Asantewaa has been disqualified by the Guinness World Records after her over 120 hours of singing marathon.

Afua Asantewaa, in December, embarked on her journey to setting a new world record by singing hundreds of songs for 126 hours.

Her five-day singing marathon dubbed “sing-a-thon” which commenced on Sunday, December 24, and ended on December 29, 2023 saw in attendance the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, high-profile dignitaries and celebrities like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Nana Ama Mcbrown among others.

Also, Ghanaians trooped to the venue in their mammoth numbers to support her.

After submitting her works to the Guinness World Records and after weeks of assessment, the organizers have asked Afua to try again another time.

“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon”, they replied.
