I Hope You’ve Changed Now! – Mahama Told
Kwamena Duncan, NPP stalwart and former Minister for Central Region, has expressed his hopes for the next government in power.
Next year will see former President John Dramani Mahama back to the Jubilee House after losing power to the incumbent Akufo-Addo government in 2016.
John Dramani Mahama, after being declared President-Elect of Ghana by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, has unveiled his transition team members and outlined his plans for the first 120 days of his administration geared towards resetting Ghana.
Within his first 120-day social contract, the President-elect has promised to “nominate within the first 14 days the complete list of Cabinet Ministers for parliamentary approval. Within my first 90 days in office, scrap the following draconian taxes to alleviate hardships and ease the high cost of doing business: E-levy, COVID levy, 10% levy on bet winnings, and Emissions levy”.
He also pledges to “within my first 90 days in office, review taxes and levies on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes. Commence drafting needed legal amendments and prepare for implementing the 24-Hour Economy Policy under the Office of the President” among others.
But to Kwamena Duncan, he finds it difficult expecting a change from John Dramani Mahama.
“I pray he is now a changed former President. I pray and I want to hope for the better”, he said on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show while alluding to the poor performance of the previous Mahama regime.
