I Remain Majority Leader In Parliament – Afenyo-Markin Insists
Alexander Afenyo-Markin says he remains the Majority Leader in Parliament despite the Speaker’s declaration of four seats as vacant.
The four seats namely Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena and Suhum were declared vacant after their Members of Parliament’s resolve to re-contest their seats as independent candidates.
This has caused the Minority to claim majority in the Legislative House, however, the Supreme Court has stayed the Speaker’s order.
Answering a question on who currently is the Majority Leader as the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and his side insist they will occupy the majority chamber, Afenyo-Markin asserted; “I remain the Majority Leader, leader of government business and leader of the House. Nothing has changed and nothing will change.”
“I earn that by virtue of my caucus being in majority and my caucus remains in majority in spite of the mischief on the floor. The Supreme Court has reaffirmed it and I challenge all those who are in disagreement to come to court so that this matter is further litigated and resolved”, he emphasized in an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
