I Will Be Shocked If Chief Justice Is Not Fired! – Yaw Asani Tano
Yaw Asani Tano has asked President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
The former National Organizer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), making his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show strongly held that the Chief Justice must go for the Judiciary to become sanitized.
He accused former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to have “packed the Judiciary to favor NPP and their cause of alleged looting and misbehavior in governance”, hence exclaiming “she (Chief Justice) has to go and if the Chief Justice is not fired, I will be shocked”.
According to him, “until the Judiciary is reset, no cases that are being sent there will have the fair justice that Ghanaians need”.
Petition
President John Mahama has begun consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of the Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
According to a statement from Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the three petitions have been forwarded to the Council of State in line with the constitutional process outlined in Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
