I Will Work Closely With You To Build A Better And Transparent Economy – Bawumia Assures CSOs & Research Institutions
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has underscored the significance of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and research institutions to the governance system of Ghana.
At a meeting with a number of CSOs in Accra on Wednesday, November 20, the Vice President and NPP flagbearer, expressed his desire to work closely with the CSOs and research institutions when he becomes President to glean their in-depth knowledge.
“My father used to tell me that if you want to have sense, talk to sensible people. I believe you, the CSOs have a lot to offer. And I will be looking forward to working with you and research institutions including the Universities very closely”, Dr. Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia shared his achievements as Vice President and policies to advance Ghana’s progress under his Presidency with the CSOs.
Among them were his commitment to the use of technology to transform the economy as well as fight corruption.
“I want to build a country of inclusiveness with good governance and transparency that all of you care about…We are going to be fighting a lot of entrenched interests in many sectors and I will really need the support of the CSOs to fight it.”
“People are making money from the status quo, so they don’t want anything that fights corruption. But the interest of the nation should be paramount, not the interest of some few people. I believe we can do it together.”
