Inaki Williams Becomes First Athletic Bilbao Player Since 2005 To Record Three Assists
Inaki Williams made history on Sunday, becoming the first Athletic Bilbao player since 2005 to register three assists in a single league game during their 3-2 victory over Las Palmas.
The Ghana forward’s playmaking heroics were crucial in Bilbao’s away win, marking a standout performance upon his return from the international break.
Williams first set up Oihan Sancet for the opener in the seventh minute, delivering a perfect pass that the midfielder converted with ease.
Just over 20 minutes later, Williams combined with his younger brother, Nico Williams, for Bilbao’s second goal, with Nico curling a brilliant shot past the Las Palmas goalkeeper.
Williams completed his hat-trick of assists in the 75th minute, setting up Aitor Paredes to restore their two-goal cushion after Las Palmas had briefly threatened a comeback.
The last Bilbao player to achieve this feat was Fran Yeste, who notched three assists in a 2005 match against Real Betis.
Inaki Williams’ milestone cements his influence at the club as Bilbao continues their strong start to the season.
