Is It Typhoid Or What? – Kwesi Pratt Mocks ‘Sick’ Chairman Wontumi
The Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt seems to be missing the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi, in action as the latter hasn’t been heard lately in the lead-up to the party’s parliamentary election.
Also popularly called “Governor 1” by some NPP supporters, Chairman Wontumi has been summoned by the Manhyia Palace for allegedly making some defamatory comments against the Chiefs in Ashanti Region.
Following the summon, an official report communicated by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, before the Chiefs in Manhyia Palace when he and some leaders visited the Chiefs on behalf of their Regional Chairman, indicated that Mr. Wontumi has taken ill and has been admitted in the hospital.
The Chiefs took this report with a pinch of salt and still demand the presence of Chairman Wontumi but a picture has since gone viral after surfacing on the internet showing him on the sick bed and receiving what looked like drips to prove he is indeed sick.
Discussing the NPP parliamentary election which comes off this Saturday, January 27, Mr. Pratt asked “where is their Chairman?”, adding “my own friend, Wontumi, is missing”.
He also, like the Chiefs, questioned the authenticity of the news that Chairman Wontumi is sick, hence trying to find out which disease could the Chairman be suffering from.
“Is it Typhoid or what?”, he mockingly asked and added “if you are indeed sick, we are praying for you”.
Kwesi Pratt gave these comments during “Kokrokoo” morning show on Peace FM.
