‘Is Kempinski A Galamsey Site?’ – Afigya Kwabre North MP On Mahama Gov’t Holding Meeting On Galamsey At Hotel
Collins Adomako-Mensah, Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, has slammed the Mahama administration for organizing a meeting on galamsey at one of the plush hotels in Accra.
It could be recalled that, prior to the 2024 elections, the leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a meeting at a mining site in protest against the previous Akufo-Addo government.

The NDC held the meeting at the galamsey site to portray how bad the waterbodies had become while blaming former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the mess.
Interestingly, according to Collins Adomako-Boamah, the current Mahama government today no longer holds galamsey meetings at similar locations.
He revealed that this time, the government has organized this meeting at Kempinski Hotel.
The meeting was aimed to deliberate on measures to curb the illegal mining (galamsey) menace.
Calling out the double standards of the NDC, the MP said; “[In] their first dialogue on galamsey, they carried all members of Parliament, the Speaker to that place (Kempinski Hotel). That is where they went to do a meeting on galamsey but when they were seeking for power, they were having the meetings at the site. Now, they do the meeting at Kempinski; is Kempinski a galamsey site?”
