It’s Not What You Do To People But What You Do With And For Them…Leave a Legacy! – New Ministers Told

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at the Central University, has advised the ministerial appointees to selflessly serve in their respective offices.

The President on Wednesday, February 14, relieved some Ministers of their duties in his first major ministerial reshuffle after assuming office.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, have been kicked out and Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam and Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye appointed to the Finance and Health Ministries respectively.

The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been reassigned to the Works and Housing Ministry and his Deputy, Fatimatu Abubakar, replaces him.

Other new Ministers include Lydia Alhassan who heads to the Sanitation and Water Resources Ministry, Andrew Egyapa Mercer to Tourism, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey reassigned to Interior Ministry among others.

Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover takes over from Hon. Henry Quartey as Minister for General Accra Region.

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, admonished the Ministers-designate to ensure they leave a legacy.

“You have to live up to expectation and sometimes even beyond the expectation…It’s not what you do to the people [but] what you do with the people and for the people”, he said.

He however was hopeful they will work hard, saying “I am confident that these new Ministers will work to leave a legacy. Some of them will do well”, hence mentioning “people like Agya Mercer will do well; Kojo Oppong Nkrumah will do well”.
