It’s Worrying That Our Constitutionally Elected President Is Becoming A ‘Tyrant And Dictator’ – Nana B Slams Mahama

NPP National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye says President John Dramani Mahama is planning  to run for a third term in office, hence the reasons for his appointment of new Justices for the Supreme Court and what he terms as a ploy to dismiss Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.

According to Nana Boakye, there is what he described as a “sinister motive” by the President behind the brouhaha surrounding the Judiciary.

He explained on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show that President wants to gain absolute control over the Judiciary as he currently holds executive and parliamentary control.

He stressed that the President’s nominees to the Supreme Court is part of his grand strategy to pack the Supreme Court with people loyal to him to help him to go for a 3rd term in government.

“He knows it will be difficult for him to get a referendum. So, what I can do is that I can rather pack the court, then have judges who will favor me; then I will sponsor a judicial interpretation of Article 62 which states that everybody has two terms.

“Therefore, he seeks an interpretation to mean that the two terms means you can go continuously and consecutively. He wants to dwell on such interpretation to go for a 3rd term”, he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.

Nana Boakye, condemning this move, labeled His Excellency John Mahama as a “tyrant”.

He said; “It is worrying that our democratically, our constitutionally elected President is becoming a constitutional tyrant and a dictator.”
