Jordan Ayew Undergoes Medical As Leicester City Near £8m Deal With Crystal Palace
Leicester City are on the verge of signing Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace, with the Ghana forward currently undergoing a medical on Thursday afternoon.
The move follows an agreement between the two clubs on an £8 million transfer fee, significantly improved from Leicester’s initial £4 million offer, which Palace had rejected.
Ayew, who turns 33 next month, has been a mainstay at Crystal Palace since 2018, making over 200 appearances and scoring 23 goals.
However, his role at the club has diminished under new manager Oliver Glasner, with the versatile forward now playing a reduced role.
He was a second-half substitute in Palace’s Premier League opener against Brentford last weekend.
Leicester City manager Steve Cooper, who previously worked with Ayew’s older brother Andre at Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, is eager to add the experienced forward to his squad.
Ayew’s experience in the Premier League is seen as a valuable asset for Leicester as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The club are also hopeful of signing two more attackers before next week’s transfer deadline, as they continue to enhance their options in the forward positions.
If the medical is successful, Ayew will join Leicester’s ranks and could potentially play a key role in their quest to make an impact in the Premier League this season.
