Ahwoi’s ‘Anything Can Happen’ Comment: Be Extra Careful!! – Mahama Cautioned

Atik Mohammed has asked former President and leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, to be cautious of the people around him following the Kwesi Ahwoi’s comments.

Mr. Ahwoi, an NDC stalwart, at a reception organized last Thursday by the Churchstreet group of NDC faithful for Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, told her to prepare herself to succeed John Mahama if voted into power.

He alluded to the death of Ex-President Evans Atta Mills, giving the impression that Mr. Mahama may suffer same fate before the end of his tenure, hence giving Prof. Jane Naana the opportunity to take over the reins of government.

Kwesi Ahwoi has however rendered an apology to Mahama and the rank and file of his party saying “I sincerely regret the wrong impression that my comment has created. Indeed, it was not my intention, and never will it be my intention to pray that H.E. John Mahama does not serve his full four-year term when he wins the 2024 general elections”.

He added; “I concede that I misspoke on the occasion. I accept the criticisms in good faith, even though some of the criticisms arise out of a deliberate misrepresentation of my statement.”

But Atik has admonished the former President stressing “he needs to be extra careful”.

He condemned Mr. Ahwoi for failing to restrain himself from making such a comment.

“What the man said is very disturbing. From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh because I don’t see anything that could have provoked such a comment if it wasn’t something already in his mind…It’s unacceptable; it’s objectionable!”, he lamented on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, adding “these are not the kinds of things we want in our political space. It’s extremely disturbing”.
