LGBTQ+ Brouhaha: ‘Deny Jesus And Make Money…Allo, Gospel Musician’ – MOGmusic In Hot Water After ‘No Comment’
Gospel musician, MOGmusic, whose real name is Nana Yaw Boakye, is in hot water for pleading the fifth over the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
The bill, which has been passed by Parliament and awaits presidential assent to become law, seeks to criminalize the promotion, advocacy and all acts of homosexuality in Ghana.
Offenders will face a six-month to 5-year jail term.
But the international community and some Ghanaians have objected to the bill and implored the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, not to assent to it.
However, there is a large population comprising the clergy, Islamic leaders and a section of the Ghanaian citizenry that wants LBGTQ+ outlawed in the country and they impress upon the President to sign the bill.
As the President is in a quagmire, gospel artiste, MOGmusic appeared on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday and was asked about his take on the LGBTQ+ brouhaha.
In his reply, he said; “With this issue [anti-LGBT+ Bill], I will plead the fifth because of my work as a gospel musician. I am saying this to protect my image and brand. If I speak for or against it, people would get something to say, so I would rather be silent on it. I can speak about my stance on the issue privately but not on air.”
As harmless as he thought his comment is, not many people have taken a liking to it.
The public has lashed out at MOGmusic for failing to stand up for his faith since he represents the Christian community.
They claim the gospel musician has betrayed his Christian faith and integrity.
