Mahama’s Crowd Size Doesn’t Scare Us – Dan Botwe ‘Laughs Off’

The National Chairman of NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Dan Botwe has downplayed the large crowd size of the opposition National Democratic Congress witnessed during the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama’s campaign in the Ashanti Region.

The former President Mahama has stormed the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party, Ashanti Region, and boasted of pulling a mammoth gathering.

Mahama expressed utter delight at the residents showing up massively at his rally which to him Indicates he will win the Saturday’s general elections.

“Am I dreaming? Is this Kumasi? Is this Asanteman?”, Mahama said excitedly as thousands thronged his event which is a part of his 6-day tour of the Ashanti Region.

But to Dan Botwe, his party isn’t scared of the NDC numbers.

Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, he recounted similar incidents in 1992 and 1996 where he witnessed massive crowds at rallies but the numbers had no significant impact on the outcome of the elections.

He also noted a more reason why the Mahama crowd doesn’t send shivers down the NPP’s spine is that the NDC commands about 100000 members and supporters in the Ashanti Region, hence their supporters turning up in their numbers to their party’s flagbearer’s rally is nothing new.

“There’s nothing new about it…It doesn’t scare us a bit. We’ve moved from constituency to constituency and spoken to people; Dr. Bawumia’s message has resonated in the minds of the people”, he stated.
