A group of people believed to share political affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have reportedly caused disruption to the Ashanti Regional Council of State election.

The group is said to have vehemently dissented to the election of the Chief of Agric Nzema, Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo who had won.

According to reports, the angry group stormed the premises of the Regional Coordinating Council where the election was being held, disrupting the proceedings just when the popular Kumasi Chief who is a New Patriotic Party loyalist was about to be declared winner, having secured 49 votes out of total 86 votes cast.

A video that has since gone viral showed heavily built men invading the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and destroying the electoral materials.

Calm was eventually restored with Police and military officers de-escalating the violence.

However, it appears the victory of Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo is undisputed as he is set to make history as the first NPP candidate to secure the enviable slot under an NDC administration.
