Nana Ohene Ntow, Gideon Boako ‘Punch’ Each Other Over Founder Of Akufo-Addo’s ‘1 D, 1 F’ Policy
Nana Ohene Ntow and Dr. Gideon Boako on Monday, August 26, clashed over the originator of one of government’s prime policies dubbed “1 District, 1 Factory”.
While delivering his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Nana Ohene Ntow, a political advocate for Alan Kyerematen to be Ghana’s next President and a staunch member of the latter’s political move, Movement for Change, credited Alan with the “1 District, 1 Factory” policy claiming he suggested it to be included in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s 2017 manifesto.
It could be recalled that one of the things that endeared President Akufo-Addo, then aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, to Ghanaians during the 2016 elections was this policy.
The policy was aimed at establishing a factory in each district to move Ghana into the industrialization space and enhance productivity of the economy.
Nana Ohene Ntow, touting the achievements of Alan Kyerematen as Trade Minister under the Akufo-Addo regime, emphasized that the Movement for Change leader is the brain behind the “1 District, 1 Factory”.
“Alan drafted the 1 District, 1 Factory policy of the government…He suggested it before they (NPP) wrote it in their manifesto”, he claimed, but this didn’t sit well with Dr. Gideon Boako, Spokesperson of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“This is not true!”, he replied.
According to Dr. Gideon Boako, Nana Ohene Ntow is trying to deceive Ghanaians by attributing this policy to Alan Kyerematen.
He explained the policy came about after Dr. Bawumia was exposed to the plight of some people who were using their manpower to dig a hole to generate water for them.
He stated that, when Dr. Bawumia saw the action of the people, he was moved to construct a dam for them, hence resulting in the “1 Constituency, 1 Dam” policy.
This slogan, he added, led to the birth of the “1 District, 1 Factory” which became part of the NPP promises, therefore Alan Kyerematen has got nothing to do with the framing of the policy.
