Nkrumah Comments: ‘There’s No Effort Without Error’ – Kabilla ‘Defends’ NAPO
James Kwabena Bomfeh alias “Kabilla” has seemingly asked critics of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to cut the latter some slack.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s political statements about Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who attained independence for the nation in 1957, has become infamous and synonymous with disrespect for the nation’s hero.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called “NAPO”, was Tuesday, July 9, publicly unveiled as Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party to Ghanaians in a ceremony held in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The event was largely attended by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers, Members of Parliament, members and supporters of the party.
While delivering a speech at the event and comparing track records of the Akufo-Addo and previous administrations, NAPO exclaimed that no President in the history of Ghana has ever worked to develop Ghana like the incumbent government.
“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”, he said.
Touching on the issue during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Kabilla watered down the reactions towards NAPO after his comments.
To him, NAPO goofed but partially defended him saying the NPP Running Mate however realized while speaking that he had made a blunder immediately those words came out from his mouth which is an indirect admission of his guilt.
Kabilla strongly believed NAPO’s comments, although unfortunate, don’t negate his personality as a nice and humble person.
“There’s no effort without error”, he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi and cautioned NAPO to watch his tongue moving forward.
“…avoid making mistakes or repeating mistakes”, he advised NAPO.
