No Law Binds Jean Mensa From Voting – Kweku Baako Backs EC Boss

Jean Mensa

Kweku Baako, New Crusading Guide Chief Editor, has rubbished criticisms about the Chairperson of Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa joining the special voters to cast her vote.

On Monday, December 2, security forces and media practitioners including other essential service providers in the nation exercised their franchise.

Among the lots who voted on the day was Madam Jean Mensa but some critics have accused her of manipulating the electoral system in favor of a particular candidate, specifically referring to the presdential candidate of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Touching on the issue during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Kweku Baako found nothing wrong with Jean Mensa’s act though revealing her predcessors never participated in the voting.

“Afari Gyan never voted. Charlotte Osei never voted but that was not there was any legal regime or law binding their conduct. They chose to abstain”, he stated.

Mr. Baako also found it ridiculous the arguments that Jean Mensa may manipulate the system, stressing “you look at the architecture. You don’t look at the personality who is Chairperson and has cast her vote. In any case, you don’t know even which way she voted. And that’s an issue? When you should be looking at the election architecture; what we have done for ourselves”.
