No ‘Presidential Pardon’ Granted To Ato Essien And Others – Ex-Prez Akufo-Addo’s Office Decries ‘False Reports’


The office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has debunked reports that Nana Addo granted some convicts presidential pardon before ending his tenure on the night of January 6th.

The President, in a statement, says he has given no pardon.

This comes to counter earlier claims that the former Chief Executive of the defunct Capital Bank, William Ato Essien who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment over fraud-related offences and 10 other convicts had been set free by the Ex-President.

But according to the former President’s office; “We wish to categorically state that these assertions are inaccurate, and no pardon has been granted by President Akufo-Addo.”
