Obuasi Mine Deaths: Pay Full Medical Bills And Funeral Costs – President Instructs AngloGold Ashanti

The President, John Dramani Mahama has instructed AngloGold Ashanti to bear full cost of the medical treatment of the injured persons involved in the shootout at the company’s mine shaft on Sunday.

Eight (8) persons are reportedly dead after some illegal miners trooped into AngloGold’s mine facility.

The deceased were killed after the military personnel guarding the mining company fired gunshots to ward off the invaders.

There were several injuries as well.

In a statement issued by the President’s acting Spokesperson, AngloGold Ashanti, aside paying fully the medical expenses of the injured persons, is also to “facilitate the burial arrangements” of the deceased.
