Over 14000 Road Accidents Recorded In 2023
14,135 road accidents were recorded in the year 2023, according to statistics by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).
The statistics also showed that 23,998 vehicles were involved in road accidents last year resulting in the death of 2,276.
It further detailed that the Ashanti, Greater Accra and Eastern Regions recorded the most of the accidents with 485,438 fatalities and 414 victims each.
Followed by the Central, Volta and Western Regions which had 191,130 and 120 deaths respectively.
Bono East and Western-North Regions also recorded 102 and 83 fatalities.
The other Regions namely Upper East, Upper West, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, Northern, Bono and Oti recorded the least of accidents and fatalities.
Altogether, private cars had the highest proportion of the road crashes with 10,767 followed by commercial vehicles with 8,084Â and motorbikes with 5,147.
