Parliamentary Brouhaha: You’ll Be Caught By The Law Again – Afenyo-Markin Warns NDC

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader in Parliament, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus’ rejection of a Supreme Court ruling to stay the Speaker’s declaration of four seats vacant.

The Speaker, Alban Bagbin, declared the Agona West,  Suhum, Fomena, Amenfi Central constituencies whose parliamentary representatives are Cynthia Morrison, Kwadwo Asante, Andrew Asiamah Amoako and Peter Kwakye-Ackah respectively vacant.

But the NDC caucus who hitherto were the minority in the legislative house now carry themselves as the Majority and have refused to heed the court verdict which places an injunction on the Speaker’s order.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Afenyo-Markin asked the legal team of the opposition party to abide by the law stating “if the lawyers really know the law and want the law to work, they should get to work to challenge the decision of the court”.

“They will be caught by the law again”, he cautioned.
