President Kufour Did Better Than Akufo-Addo – Dr. Otchere-Ankrah Replies NAPO
Governance lecturer, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has debunked the claims by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, regarding Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was on Tuesday, July 9, outdoored in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, in a colorful ceremony but his statements about Dr. Kwame Nkrumah have taken away the shine of the event.
Delivering a speech at the event and comparing track records of the Akufo-Addo and previous administrations, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh alias NAPO asserted that no President in the history of Ghana can ever be compared to President Nana Addo so far as Ghana’s development is concerned.
“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”, he said.
Addressing the matter during “Kokrokoo” panel discussion on Peace FM, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah who lectures at the Central University wondered why Dr. Opoku Prempeh would make such comments about Ghana’s hero, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
To him, NAPO’s statements were distasteful and marred the beauty of his unveiling ceremony.
Dr. Otchere-Ankrah listed some major developmental projects that Nkrumah did which remain unprecedented till date, citing the Akosombo Dam and Tema communities among others.
He added that, to him, Ex-President John Kufour is far better than President Akufo-Addo in terms of the country’s development.
“I don’t want to stir controversy but President Kufour did better than President Akufo-Addo and you know it”, he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.
