Priest Jailed For Defrauding A Miner

A 30-year old festish priest based in New Tafo Mohammed Alhassan has been sentenced to 18 months jail term for defrauding a miner.

Presenting the fact to the court, the prosecutor D/C/Inspr. Barnabas Mends stated that the complainant who is a 27-year old miner based at Osino and the accused person in the month of November, 2024 met and through conversation with the accused promising to help him get large quantity of gold.

The fetish priest demanded an amount of GHC 5000 and a quantity of gold worth GHC 19200 to start the process of enriching the complainant but after collecting the money and the gold from the complainant, the priest gave him a doll to take home.

The complainant then realized that he has been defrauded by accused and reported the matter to the Police who arrested the priest.

In related development, the accused person is also alleged to have defrauded a Spain-based businessman to the tune of GHC 200000 and gold worth GHC 122000.
