Restore The Licences Of The Collapsed Banks – Asani Tano Tells BoG Governor
Yaw Asani Tano has appealed for restoration of licences of the banks that collapsed under the Akufo-Addo administration.
His call comes following the constitution of a board for the Bank of Ghana.
President John Dramani Mahama has, in consultation with the Council of State and in accordance with Article 70(1)(d)(iii) of the Constitution and Section 8 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act612) as amended by the Bank of Ghana (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 918), appointed the members of the governing board of the Bank of Ghana.
The board chaired by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Johnson Kwesi Asiamah, includes Dr. Zakari Mumuni as 1st Deputy Governor, Isaac Adongo, among others.
Yaw Asani Tano, a socio-political commentator, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, reposed confidence in the new Governor and the board.
He hoped for the collapsed banks to be resuscitated saying “I say and I pray that this Governor, having been there before knowing very well the nuances, the trajectory for which reason we are where we are today, would ensure the proper thing will be done; puting proper structures in place within the banking sector and those who deserve to have their licences, we should do everything possible to give them back their licences and they will employ more people back into the system”.
