Road Accidents: Don’t Provoke Somebody Who Doesn’t Have Control Over Their Emotions – Prof. Joseph Osafo Cautions Ghanaians

Professor Joseph Osafo, a Senior Psychologist, has advised commuters and drivers to be careful on the roads especially when there is a convoy or a vehicle hooting a siren for right of way.

Professor Joseph Osafo, commenting on the fatal accident involving the President’s convoy, asked Ghanaians who travel by road not to provoke drivers or motorists as it could potentially result in their death.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s convoy was involved in a gory accident while returning from Kumasi to Accra after a series of events over the weekend.

The accident occurred at Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the accident happened when a KIA Rhino truck crossed the convoy, resulting in the collision.

One person was confirmed dead and others injured.

The injured victims were rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for initial treatments and later to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment.

The President is safe and unharmed as he traveled to Accra in a military aircraft.

Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Prof. Osafo noted that there are different persons driving on the road and different circumstances may cause them to be depressed or have an emotional meltdown, therefore he urged pedestrians to ensure they don’t dare any driver to hit him or her as they don’t know the mental state of the person driving the car.

“Don’t provoke somebody who doesn’t have control over his emotions or somebody who is confused because things are not going well for him. Don’t say if you like hit me, the person will hit you”, he advised.
