Sending Armed NIB Operatives To Arrest Ntim Fordjour Just Creates ‘Unnecessary Noise’ – Charles Owusu Fires Govt

Charles Owusu

Charles Owusu, former Head of Monitoring Unit at the Forestry Commission, has expressed his disappointment over the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour by National Security personnel on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Ntim Fordjour’s home was inundated by armed men believed to be operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) whose aim was to arrest the Assin South lawmaker.

The attempted arrest is said to be related to Ntim Fordjour’s claims of two flights which arrived in Ghana in March may have been used to smuggle cocaine and committing the crime of moving money illegally.

The aircraft, AirMed Flight N823AM, an air ambulance, and a Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B, a cargo plane, had arrived from Gran Canaria, Spain, and stayed at the airport  for five days and 13 days respectively.

But the government has debunked the claims, stressing nothing suspicious was on the aircraft during their arrival in the government.

In view of this, some security operatives in NIB uniforms and Police officers invaded Ntim Fordjour’s residence but were prevented from arresting him by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party and Minority Caucus members who marched to protect their stalwart.

Commenting on the issue during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Charles Owusu found it unnecessary for the NIB officers entering the lawmaker’s private residence.

He stated that “nobody is above the law but to hire house with 20 armed Police officers…creates unnecessary noise. It won’t bring us anything better”.
