Speaker Bagbin Once Again Suspends Parliament Indefinitely

Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) on Thursday, November 7, took over the Majority chamber at Parliament’s makeshift floor at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) for the second time.

The NDC MPs arrived in the House earlier and proceeded to occupy the Majority seats.

Their colleague New Patriotic Party MPs also boycotted the House for the second time.

Parliament had reconvened to commence proceedings at 10:00 am following their impasse which resulted in the House being suspended sine die.

Today’s scene in Parliament was a replay of a similar incident on October 22, 2024 which saw the Majority boycotting the House to avoid confrontation with the Minority Caucus who claim majority position after the Speaker declared some seats vacant.

Once again, the Speaker has adjourned Parliament meeting indefinitely because the House did not have the numbers to make decisions.
