Stop Galamsey Demo: I’m So Saddened By Your Misbehavior – Atik Blasts Democracy Hub Protesters

Atik Mohammed has expressed disappointment in the organizers of the Democracy Hub demonstration.

Some Ghanaians took to the streets of 37 Military Hospital days ago in protest against the illegal mining (galamsey) in the country.

The Democracy Hub protesters engaged in acts that compelled the Police to arrest some of them including one of their leaders, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

Commenting on the demonstration dubbed “Stop Galamsey”, Atik noted that their conduct has marred the essence of the activity.

He explained that the protesters have a worthy cause but they resorting to vandalism and acting in blatant disregard of the laws has taken away their shine.

“I am saddened by the turn of events. I would have expected that their demonstration would set the tone for the mega demonstration or a series of demonstration yet to come so that we can all drive home that singular important message that we need to suspend the activities of artisanal and small-scale miners with a view to finding a more sustainable solution to the problem”, he remarked during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
