Stop The Fear And ‘Rambo’ Style Of Governance – Kabilla Warns Mahama
Dr. James Kwabena Bomfeh has cautioned the Mahama administration regarding the current happenings where some political opponents have had their homes raided by National Security and others arrested.
News currently making rounds relates to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi.
Chairman Wontumi is in the custody of the EOCO following his visit to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
He was ambushed by officers from the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) who arrested him while he moved his car from the CID headquarters and although there is no formal charge yet, the NPP bigwig is said to be under investigation for allegedly receiving an undue payment of GH¢50 million from COCOBOD and his alleged involvement in galamsey among others.
A report by ChannelOne TV on May 27, 2025 indicated that the payment was made to Hallmark Civil Engineering, a company owned by Wontumi, in the last days of the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government after the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, had barred contract payments during the transition period.
“We are being told that this payment was done in the dying days of the NPP during the transition to the NDC, and at that time, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, had issued a warning to state agencies to stop all payments,” ChannelOne TV reported.
Reacting to these issues on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called “Kabilla”, warned the President stating “what’s currently happening is not good”.
To him, the incumbent government is setting a bad precedent, hence dreaded what the repercussions of their actions might be for the nation in the offing.
“Let’s stop the fear and rambo approach we want to use to rule the nation. Governance is done with people, this is why it is called multi-party governance”, he vehemently cautioned.
