The National Security Operatives’ Raids Are ‘Lawful’…We Take Full Responsibility! – Dep. Justice Minister Says

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai, says the raid on the private residence of Dr. Ernest Addison, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, was in no breach of the law.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, a heavily armed team, numbering about 20, raided Dr. Addison’s home at Roman Ridge in Accra.

The operation was led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat.

The armed personnel were reportedly dressed in balaclavas and carrying AK-47 semi-automatic rifles and stormed Dr. Addison’s residence while the latter was absent in the house.

They were said to have sought for a vault in the house and had disabled the CCTV for obvious reasons.

However, Dr. Addison has denied having a vault in his home.

Commenting on the incident, the Deputy Minister of Justice emphasized that the operation was sactioned and acted in accordance with the laws.

“We take full responsibility for the search that took place. We want to make it clear that the searches as well as the manner in which they were conducted were in strict accordance with the law”, Justice Srem Sai told reporters on Thursday, March 20.
