There’s No Need For Ofori-Atta To Return Before You Go To Court – Kwesi Pratt To Kissi Agyebeng

Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt has waded into discussions regarding the brouhaha between the Office of the Special Prosecutor and former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Ken Ofori-Atta, who is in the United States for medical reasons according to his legal representation, was expected to return to Ghana on Monday, June 2, 2025.

But the former Minister failed to oblige by the Special Prosecutor’s directive to return on the said date to face criminal charges.

In view of this, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has declared again Ken Ofori-Atta as a wanted fugitive.

He made this known in a press conference on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Reacting to the matter during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” panel discussion show, the seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt queried the Special Prosecutor regarding his delay in prosecuting Ken Ofori-Atta.

“If the Special Prosecutor really believes has committed a crime against Ghana, there is no need for him to return before he (Special Prosecutor) sends him ( Ofori-Atta) to court”, he stated.

He also questioned; “Haven’t we seen trial in absentia before?”

A trial in absentia is a legal proceeding where a criminal trial proceeds despite the defendant’s absence.

He further took a swipe at Ken Ofori-Atta, pressing on him to share his “medical report” with the Special Prosecutor if indeed he is sick.
