This Is A Bad Time To Be Part Of This Comedy – Prof. Smart Sarpong Scolds MPs
Prof. Smart Sarpong, a Senior Researcher, has urged the Members of Parliament who have threatened to run independent in the parliamentary elections after losing their internal party elections to take a second look at their decision.
The MPs comprise NPP MP for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison, NPP MP for the Suhum, Kwadwo Asante, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, currently an independent MP for the Fomena constituency and NDC MP for Amenfi Central, Peter Kwakye-Ackah.
Their seats were declared vacant by the Speaker in accordance with Article 97 of the Constitution but this decision has been overturned by the Supreme Court after the NPP Majority Caucus filed their case in the court.
Tackling the issue of the MPs contesting their seats as independent candidates, Prof. Smart Sarpong asked them to rescind their decision stressing they must remain loyal to their political parties.
“This is a bad time at a crucial election like this to be part of this comedy. What is going on? This is comedy!”, he remarked on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
