These Your ‘1 Plus 1’ Arithmetic Errors Are Very Disgraceful – Nana Akomea Fires EC

Nana Akomea has cautioned the Electoral Commission against recording mathematical errors as it was seen in their limited registration exercise.
The Electoral Commission (EC) commenced the registration exercise on Tuesday, May 7, to give opportunity to eligible people who couldn’t register in the 2023 exercise to do so in order to exercise their voting right in this year’s December 7 polls.
During the second and third days of the exercise, the EC tabulating the number of registrants made errors and later rectified them.
They have apologized for this blunder but it comes without caution to them not to repeat this mistake.
“The Electoral Commission has corrected errors in the previously released daily voter registration numbers. The inaccuracies were in the cumulative totals for days two and three, though the regional numbers were correct. The Upper East’s day three’s total was mistakenly repeated for day four. These have been amended”, a statement by the EC read.
Tackling this issue during Tuesday’s edition of “Kokrokoo” morning show on Peace FM, the Chief Executive of the InterCity State Transport Corporation, Nana Akomea found these mistakes unpardonable, alluding to a similar case in the 2020 elections.
He advised the electoral management body to find a lasting solution to this problem.
“This EC arithmetic calculation that they can’t do, I can hardly understand it. That 1 plus 1 that they can’t get correct, it is disgraceful and they should be careful about that. That 1 plus 1 that the Electoral Commission cannot get right is not good because I remember they repeated the same thing in the 2020 elections resulting in them announcing the election results about twice. It is not good!”
