To Leave Rawlings’ Daughter, Zanetor, From Your Appointments Is Unacceptable – NPP MP Tells Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has come under fire for excluding the daughter of the late founder of his political party, the National Democratic Congress, from his appointments.
The President has since appointed a number of his Ministers, Chief Executives of State institutions, staffers among other appointees.
Names such as Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Sam George, Omane Boamah, Haruna Iddrisu to head the Foreign Affairs, Communications, Defence and Education Ministries respectively including others have been mentioned.
But Zanetor Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle constituency, remains missing on the appointment list.
Looking at the fact that her father is credited for forming the party that has made John Dramani Mahama a two-time President of Ghana and her key role in bringing the party back to power, Zanetor Rawlings’ name not dropping in the list is considered by some people as discriminatory.
Among the voices speaking for Zanetor Rawlings is the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as he raised a concern in Parliament.
“Honorable Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings, the founder’s daughter, is yet to be mentioned. Mr. Speaker, there are new female MPs who are anxious to have an opportunity to serve in government.
“Mr. Speaker, respected Professor from Essikado, a prominent surgeon who has made it into this chamber, we are yet to hear her name. Is the President being discriminatory?”, Afenyo- Markin said.
Joining the promoters of Ms. Rawlings for position in Mahama’s government, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, NPP parliamentarian for Old Tafo and former PRO for the Education Ministry, has also raised similar concerns.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show Friday morning, he called the attention of the President to this issue, stating “to leave out the daughter of your founder, I mean, is not acceptable”.
