We Can’t Supply Water To Every Home Due To Increased Population Size – GWCL
The Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL) has disclosed that the irregular supply of water across the nation is due to the country’s population size.
According to the company’s Managing Director, Dr. Clifford Braimah, there is a higher demand for water but their supply capacity is challenged due to the increase in population.
Citing the Greater Accra Region, he noted that the Region alone has a greater population that makes it difficult for the volumes of water the company produces to reach every home.
“Already in Accra, the volume of water we produce, the population has outgrown it, and we are looking at putting up a new system at Kpong to boost our production but resource constraint has been the problem, Since 2017, 2018, we have been working and we have not settled on finances,” he said.
He also pointed out that they need capital to upgrade their machinery as new facilities are required to rectify the problem.
“You cannot give everybody at the same time, otherwise some will not get.”
