‘We Have Created A Monster’ – Atik Blasts Kissi Agyebeng

Kissi Agyebeng

Atik Mohammed, a socio-political commentator, has taken a swipe at the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng regarding his conduct.

Kissi Agyebeng has declared the former Finance Minister a “wanted fugitive” citing him for corruption.

Ken Ofori-Atta is needed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to assist in investigations into some corruption-related cases including the controversial deal between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

The Special Prosecutor also disclosed Ofori-Atta’s involvement in the construction of the National Cathedral which currently remains a hole despite the alleged spending of $58 million of government money.

Meanwhile, Ofori-Atta is said to be receiving medical attention in the USA.

Ofori-Atta, responding to the OSP’s invite through his lawyers sent a letter revealing the clinic he is seeking healthcare in and indicating he will make himself available when he returns but the Special Prosecutor doubts Ofori-Atta’s statement, hence declaring him a fugitive.

“The OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta a wanted fugitive. Mr Ofori Atta, you have two choices, you can return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or face the consequences”, “he is a fugitive from justice”, Mr. Agyebeng said at a press conference.

He insisted Ofori-Atta must, with immediate effect, come back to Ghana stressing “you can either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or the OSP will enforce your return”.

Atik, making his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, expressed his disappointments over how Kissi Agyebeng has been going about his duties.

Noting that the OSP plays a significant role in combatting corruption in the country as the office is mandated to investigate and prosecute corrupt officials, he however asserted that Kissi Agyebeng has failed to live up to expectations.

Atik likened Kissi Agyebeng to a monster stating “we have created a monster”.

To him, instead of Mr. Agyebeng doing his work effectively, the latter is rather interested in living an opulent lifestyle, stating  “he wants to live big and large”.

Further criticizing the Special Prosecutor, Atik disclosed that Mr. Agyebeng drives an armored vehicle and lives like an “Arabian King”.

Atik wondered how the Special Prosecutor can do his job well when he wants to live a rich life like those he is charged to prosecute.

“You (Kissi Agyebeng) are supposed to be pursuing people who are alleged to have robbed this country and you want to match them in the way they appear.”

“How can you do this job?”, he queried.
