‘We Haven’t Received Any Medical Report From Ofori-Atta’ – Special Prosecutor’s Spokesperson

Ken Ofori-Atta, former Minister of Finance

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has clarified why they have placed Ken Ofori-Atta on InterPol red alert despite the latter’s health concerns.

The former Finance Minister has been listed on InterPol red notice following a request by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The Red Notice was made public on June 5, 2025 and according to the notice, Ofori-Atta is wanted on the charge of “using public office for profit”.

This comes on the back of health concerns raised by the lawyers of the former Minister.

According to a purported report from Mayo Clinic in the United States, Ofori-Atta is receiving medical treatment for prostrate cancer.

But the OSP takes this report with a pinch of salt.

The Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Sammy Darko, in an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, explained why the OSP has ignored Ofori-Atta’s health concerns.

According to him, neither Ofori-Atta nor his legal representation has presented an official medical report to the Special Prosecutor to ascertain the truth or otherwise in the statements shared with the public concerning his health condition.

He clarified that the report that has been given to the OSP is from Ofori-Atta’s medical consultant which, to them, doesn’t qualify as an official medical statement.

“We have not received any medical report from Ken Ofori-Atta nor his lawyers”, he emphasized.

In view of this, the OSP finds it difficult accepting the report, hence their resolve to again declare Ofori-Atta wanted.
