We May Be Able To Save The Economy But Not A Lost Life – Kabilla ‘Begs’ Nurses To Cancel Strike
James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called “Kabilla”, has appealed to the nurses on strike to reconsider their decision.
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has registered their displeasure with the government’s delay in improving their living conditions and as a result, they have embarked on a nationwide strike.
The association initiated this action on June 2, 2025, citing government’s failure to implement their 2024 Collective Agreement which involves better salaries, improved allowances and working conditions for the nurses and midwives.
In view of this individual action, patients are most affected and suffering the brunt of the nurses’ strike.
Reacting to the incident during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, James Kwabena Bomfeh made a solemn demand for the nurses and midwives to resume work, stating how valuable they are to saving lives.
Borrowing a statement by ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Kabilla stressed; “We may be able to bring back the economy but we will never be able to bring back lives…”
He assured the nurses that individuals like himself will not rest but persist in their criticisms and strict request for government to better their livelihood.
He also asked the President, John Dramani Mahama, to bring his appointees, particularly the Minister of Health and the authorities with the Health Ministry, to order ensuring their utterances and actions are devoid of contempt.
